STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

STEMschool's mission is to provide free STEM help to K-12 students and teachers to improve STEM education, stimulate interest in STEM, make school more interesting, and better prepare students for the future.

STEMschool Inc. was incorporated November 17, 2007 as an Indiana non-profit corporation.

On November 3, 2009 we applied for a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to borrow their unused office building at 601 N. 3rd Street in Lafayette, Indiana to use as a facility for K-12 students. This facility would be used for STEM homework help, STEM tutoring, and self-directed STEM projects, Students need their own facility for this so they can have acess to the best people, tools, and materials. Most schools don't allow students from other school districts to use their facilities so students don't have a way to colloborate across school districts. Most facilites don't allow students to leave projects they're working on setup so they don't have to build from scratch each time. Some ideas from Dave Eggers that were used for 826 Valencia: The Writing Center would be used regarding how to provide quality help for students and a permanent funding source for STEMschool.
